According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Cyclone Alfred is expected to reach Brisbane this Thursday. Whilst the weather is unpredictable and various conditions are uncertain, we would like to ensure that you are as prepared as possible should this eventuate.

It is expected that during the electricity grid may be turned off to avoid possible damage to services and infrastructure. Some reports say that power could be off for several days, resulting in inability to use devices such as local servers, network attached storage (NAS) devices and desktop computers.

Given the majority of our clients are predominately cloud-based using Microsoft 365, you can access your email and files using your devices, however those who devices computers without a secondary power source, such as uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or generators, which will cause some disruption and unavailability of service given they are not able to be powered constantly.

We would recommend having fully charging laptops and having portable WiFi with credit available. This would allow you to access the internet and email as well as files if required, provided internet services are still functional.

You may also wish to consider having separate power banks/chargers to keep your portable devices remaining charged.
